Eyo Eminue: I was never involved in a brawl with Barr. Enoidem

The 2^nd runner-up of 2010 MTN Project Fame West Africa, Eyo Eminue has reacted angrily to report by a news site – NaijaLeaks that he was involved in a brawl with Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem at Monty Suites club better known as M-Lounge.

In a press statement released by the Lagos-based act and sent exclusively to Connoisseur, Eyo said he wasn’t in Uyo as at the time of the purported brawl.

Nigeria’s fast rising act, CYX working on new video

Cyril Umoren better known as CYX, still basking on the euphoria of the success of ‘Akwa Ibom Girl’ which he featured African G-pop star Don Tom is working on the video of the song which he has done a remix. He didn’t feature any artiste in the remix of the song.

Lyn set to release video of ‘Akwa Abasi Ibom’

Beautiful songstress, MefLyn Mbom a.k.a Lyn is set to release the video of ‘Akwa Abasi Ibom’. The video we learnt will be released alongside the audio on the 1^st of September, 2012. The project which is supported by Ministry of Information, Akwa Ibom State also featured over 100 talented people on set.

The song was produced by Harry Baba, mixed and mastered by Final Mix while the video was directed by Akin Alabi.

It was the 53^rd birthday of the man described as a ‘silent achiever’. The Magazine’s board of Directors consisting of Ifreke Nseowo (Nigeria’s Youngest Editor Ever), the versatile Asteroid Bassey, Nelson Nseabasi, Prince Simeon and Aniekan Ekah organized one of the biggest birthday gigs of the year for the SSG at Monty Suites. China's Yu Wenxia has been crowned 2012 Miss World. It was the second time a Miss China contestant was awarded the title. The last time was in 2007 when Zhang Zilin took the honor. The first runner-up was Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales and the second runner-up is Jessica Michelle Kahawaty of Australia. Nigeria’s Diamette Charles-Granville didn’t make it to the top 15 finalists.

Jamzi Kul hosted on debut edition of ‘The Connoisseur Show’

‘Nek Etighi’ crooner, Jamzi Kul on Friday became the first celebrity to be hosted on ‘The Connoisseur Show’. The 45 minutes program which is hosted by Nigeria’s youngest editor ever – Ifreke Nseowo made its debut today on UNIUYO FM 100.7Mhz. Celebrated broadcast virtuoso Mercy David and Rockyfella Eshiet Nsudo (both of AKBC) were in the studio before start the show to set a very fine tone for the kick-off of the show. Nsisong James a.k.a Jamzi Kul was on the hot seat as he intermittently answered posers from the Connoisseur while his favourite 10 songs were intermittently played. The show makes a return next week on 100.7Mhz with another top celebrity in the line to be hosted by Connoisseur. Watch this space for a podcast of the show’s debut edition. Akwa-Ibom Indegenes Association South Africa inaugurate new exco

On the 12^th of August 2012, history was made as the Akwa- Ibom Indigenes Association in South Africa elected officers to run the affairs of the association for the next one year.

In an emotion drained, tension soaked election meeting held at Lullilulli Hotel, Pretoria, Richard Usen defeated his opponent David Nkanang to become the president of the association.  He has the mandate to lead the association for the next one year subject to re-election provision of the constitution.

E-101 Magazine out with 5th edition

The magazine prides itself as South-South Nigeria’s first all entertainment and personality newsmagazine. Here is the 5^th edition of the magazine with the Secretary to the State Government of Akwa Ibom, Umana O. Umana gracing the cover. These guys at D’Kartel Media (publishers of the mag) keep wowing us with every edition. Meanwhile, the magazine will be celebrating its one year anniversary alongside Akwa Ibom’s silver jubilee in September. I believe that edition will be super bumper. Nice one.

University Vice Chancellor kidnapped by gunmen

Prof. Cyprain Oneyeji, the Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) was kidnapped at about 11.30am on Wednesday. It is learnt that 3 policemen on duty at the university’s gate where the incident took place were wounded in a gun duel with the 4-man gang. His whereabouts it yet to be known while his abductors has not made any demands.

Robin van Persie is set to bid goodbye to Arsenal as he will undergo a medical tomorrow, Thursday at Manchester United after both clubs agreed a £22m 4-year deal for the forward.  The 29-year-old now becomes the first player to leave Arsenal for United since Viv Anderson in the 1980s.

The Onofiok Luke Legislative Internship Programme (TOLLIP) is a pioneer attempt at simplifying the workings of the legislature and drawing higher levels of public participation in and awareness about the legislature. This pioneer scheme which is to be powered by the Member Representing Nsit Ubium in the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. The above picture was taken when Samuel Peter was crowned the WBC heavyweight Boxing Champion in Madison Square Garden, USA back in 2007. You can spot Godswill Akpabio, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State (2^nd from left) rejoicing with the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ alongside his now political opponent John Udoedehe (right). That was when the going was good. I won’t be surprised if they become friends again tomorrow because in politics they say there is no permanent friend nor enemy but permanent interest.

Music star and ‘Akwa Ibom Ayaya’ crooner, Mish performed at the 2012 SAGE World Cup in San Francisco, CA, USA. The event which took place between 27th through 30^th of July, 2012 saw the fair-skinned dude wowing the audience at the last day of the competition. SAGE, an educational event with representatives from all parts of the world, saw Team Nigeria winning the world cup for two years in a row.

The Jamaican superstar, 25, put on a show for his fans in London to hold off Yohan Blake and Justin Gatlin.  Bolt becomes only the second man in history to win back-to-back 100m Olympics titles. Congrats to him.
