Fire incident won't affect operations, says Champion Breweries


Management of Champion Breweries Plc has assured that the weekend fire incident at its factory in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State will not affect normal operations of the company. The fire, which affected the warehouse section started around 11am on Saturday but was brought under control with the quick response of the Akwa Ibom State Fire Service, Julius Berger Plc and some private water distribution companies operating in the state.

Although the extent of damage is yet to be quantified, a statement by the management said investigation is on to unravel the cause of the incident which fortunately recorded no casualty.
"Management regrets the fire incident but assures the public that normal operation is not affected while leaving no stone unturned to unravel the cause and prevent a recurrence", said the statement by Acting Managing Director, Engr. Chandhari Milind.
The statement further reassured that the company is growing stronger and will soon overcome its numerous challenges including capital inadequacies with the planned recapitalisation exercise.
It also restated the company’s commitment to maintain and sustain the production of premium quality beer and non-alcoholic beverages that meet international brewing standards through the deployment of cutting-edge technology and application of human capital.
