Mikel fails to sign John Terry’s court document, as the Chelsea captain is cleared of racial abuse

In the day 3 of the John Terry trial over alleged racial comments against QPR defender, Anton Ferdinand, the former England skipper’s legal team read out a statement prepared for and signed by 17 members of Chelsea’s first-team squad to say they have never heard him use racist language. But Nigerian International, John Obi Mikel who plays alongside Terry in the Chelsea setup did not sign the document. Others who were not signatories were Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Alex, Florent Malouda, Gary Cahill and Josh McEachran.
Meanwhile, Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle has delivered his verdict on the case after a five-day trial at Westminster Magistrates Court in London.
He said the case was not about "whether Mr Terry is a racist in the broadest sense of the word", telling the court he had heard "a great deal of evidence to show that he is not".
"It is understandable why Mr Terry wants to make this point - his reputation is at stake," he said.
