Spain outclass Italy to defend Euro trophy

The 2012 UEFA Euro championship came to a climax tonight in Kiev, Ukraine as World Champions, Spain successfully defended the trophy by defeating 2006 world champions, Italy in what could called a ‘cheap’ final.
Italy who sent Germany home in the semi-final via two goals from Mario Balotelli were beaten by four goals which they failed to reply.
David Silva and new Barca signing, Jodi Alba gave the champions a two goal lead in the first 45 minutes before Chelsea players, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata completed the rout after coming in as second half substitutes.
Spain now becomes the first team to successfully defend the championship with a world cup trophy in the kitty.
They have another opportunity to defend to trophy in 2016 when it will be hosted in France.
