Mikel John Obi, the Nigerian
midfielder who laces his boots for Chelsea FC is edging close to becoming
Africa’s most decorated football player ever after winning the Europa League on
Wednesday with his team. Though Mikel didn’t play as a result of injury, he
collected the winners’ medal alongside his compatriot, Victor Moses who was
also injured for the match.
Mikel has won the English
Premiership, Community Shield, FA Cup, Carling Cup, African Cup of Nations, and
now the Europa Cup titles. Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o and Nigeria’s Nwankwo Kanu
rank as the most decorated African football stars of all times.
