Gov. Akpabio fails to hold back tears, as Commissioner for Youth & Sports Oyong Asuquo dies in auto crash

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, today failed to control his emotions as he shed tears over the passage of his former Youth and Sports Commissioner, Oyong Asuquo. The governor who paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, wasn’t himself and was guided by his security aides as he saw the body of Oyong lie lifeless at his Ewet Housing residence.
Pastor Oyong Asuquo who was until the dissolution of the state executive council by Gov. Akpabio the Commissioner for Youth and Sports died this morning in an auto crash while on his way on his way back from Oron.
Connoisseur.com gathered that Oyong went to attend a crucial political meeting at Oron ahead today’s PDP LG Chairmanship nomination but on his way back to Uyo at about 4am, his car (which he reportedly drove alone) hit a culvert along Uyo-Oron Road (Airport road) and died on the spot as a result of injuries from the accident.
A visit by Connoisseur.com to Oyong’s residence this morning saw Mr. Umanah Okon Umanah (SSG), Nsima Ekere (Deputy Gov), Don Etim (Commissioner for Works) and other top government functionaries who thronged there alongside the governor in sad mood.
Connoisseur.com had spotted his aides buy some edibles at Nyong Essien Street on Good Friday. We learnt on good authority that the edibles were to be used for his reception by his kinsmen. A reception was to be done in his honour alongside the Minister for Science and Technology Prof Ita Ewa on Sunday.
Pastor Oyong had been the Local Government Council Chairman of Oron, Commissioner for Rural Development and until this week Wednesday, the Commissioner for Youth & Sports.
May his soul Rest in Peace!!!

  1. He never knew it will be his last. It is a lesson for his folks, all and sundry. Busy not around your wealth. Forgive, denounce, repent and do your best to serve God diligently today because morrow may not come.

  2. Word on the street is that he was shot and so crashed. Any autopsy report so we may confirm with bullet wounds? Pastor Oyong was a bad bad man and so no tears for him. Only his evil master Akpabio cries.
