Storm is brewing in the UK as the BBC
was blasted last night over an explicit sex education video for kids as young
as nine.
One angry
lawmaker said the graphic film was like a “blue movie” — and would shatter
children’s innocence.
Ministers have
pledged to investigate — and may take further action.
The Sex and
Relationship Education CD-Rom, produced by BBC Active, is aimed at primary
pupils aged nine to 11.
It includes a
graphic film of a realistic computer-generated couple having sex and an
animated video of two cartoon characters making love, plus a detailed
description of what happens to men and women’s body parts during sex.
There are also
descriptions of masturbation, “wet dreams” and gay-sex crushes plus photos of a
naked man, woman and their young daughter to show differences between bodies.
Education
minister Nick Gibb has pledged to investigate. He said: “I’m taking these
concerns seriously. I have asked to see the material before deciding what we
should do next.”
