The All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State chapter has released a comprehensive list of top PDP politicians in the state who recently defected to the ruling party. In a statement signed by the State Chairman of the party, Dr. Amadu Atai, the likes of former Petroleum Minister, Atuekong Don Etiebet and former Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Nsima Ekere made the list of 188 politicians who have decamped from PDP to APC. AFTER THE UMANA EXODUS, DOES PDP STILL EXIST IN AKWA IBOM?
HE Obong Victor Attah, former life member of the PDP Board of Trustees; Otuekong Don Etiebet, former life member of the PDP Board of Trustees; Chief Edet Nkpubre, former national vice chairman of the PDP in the South-south: these men represent those who were movers and shakers of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State and in the country at large. Today they have all left the PDP with thousands of others. Except for HE Attah, who has elected to become an elder statesman, all of them have dumped the PDP for the APC.
Since Mr Umana Okon Umana left the PDP in October 2014 for the APC, thousands of the leaders and members of the PDP have also left to join him in the APC.
As can be seen in the table below, people who made the PDP tick have all left the party for the APC. Those who continue to say that Akwa Ibom is a PDP state have missed the point. The question should rather be: Does PDP still exist in Akwa Ibom?
