I wish to take a bit of time to harp on the FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MARITIME STUDIES, ORON (FUMSO) BILL. I choose to do so because of the importance our people attach to that long drawn dream of having a full scale maritime university on our soil.
it is certainly a great relief for our people that the tumultuous journey of about 40 years, dreaming and hoping for a maritime university on our soil has been finally realized.
It is however a thing of pride to announce to you my constituents that, persistent desire of our people to have a Maritime University in Oron has received today, the highest legislative endorsement courtesy of my bill on the subject. The Nigerian senate today read for the third time and passed my BILL FOR AN ACT TO REPEAL THE MARITIME ACADEMY OF NIGERIA ACT CAP 16. LAWS OF THE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA 1988, AND ESTABLISH FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MARITIME STUDIES ORON, AND FOR RELATED MATTERS.
My resolve to better the lots our people ranks second to nothing. The pursuit of the welfare of our people and development of our district remains topmost in my priorities. I will continue more than ever before, to strive hard to ensure our district is heard and touched.
The years ahead hold greater and brighter promise for our constituents and constituency. I continue to remain grateful for the mandate, your support and prayers. I solicit more support and prayers for better results and the betterment of our people.
Thank you and God bless.
