Akwa United captain and assistant in police net over murder, charged to court

The captain of Akwa United Football Club, an Uyo based Nigerian Premier League Side, Nnamso Edo and his assistant simply identified as Otobong are currently cooling off in police net for alleged murder. CONNOISSEURng.com learnt on good authority that Nnamso and Otobong have been charged to court for allegedly murdering a lady who is believed to be girlfriend to either of the duo.
An inside source told CONNOISSEURng.com that the dark-skinned Edo popularly known as Cameroon went clubbing at M-Lounge, on that fateful night alongside four of his friends including his assistant and the deceased. On their way back from M-Lounge in the wee hours of the following morning, they were stopped by the police but they refused to stop their car and explain themselves. Since they failed to stop, men of the Nigerian Police opened fire on them and the lady who was sitting at the back was unlucky to be caught by one of the bullets. On noticing that the girl was dead, they parked their car, while the other two friends who were sitting at the back took to their heels while Nnamso and Otobong were arrested by the police.
Another version of the story has it that after firing gunshots at their car, the police continued chasing them and every body inside the car were arrested.
The third version has that Nnamso who was driving a black Toyota Camry on reaching Ukana Offot Street, Uyo removed the dead lady and threw her body to the road side before being arrested by the police who were still chasing them.
The version rendered by the police has it that they (Police) found a dead girl inside their car which prompted their arrest. It is hard to know which version of the story to believe but we know the truth doesn't hide forever.
The players have been in the police net for over one month and Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom said the players are due to appear in court soon.
