Comedian Sir James resigns from AKBC, invited for interrogation by police

The president of Comedians International, James Essien a.k.a Sir James has resigned from Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) as a guest artiste. Sir James who is a presenter and Associate Producer of Youth Corner on AKBC TV handed in his resignation on Monday, October 15, 2012 to the Director General, Pastor Praise Okon. But hell broke loose when Pastor Okon called in the police to arrest the widely talented comedian for allegedly assaulting a female co-presenter of the program simply called Idy.
The police which we learnt were security of AKBC wore mufti and told Sir James to report to the station tomorrow alongside his producer, Mfreke Ikpeikpe.
We are trying to get in contact with the DG of AKBC, Pastor Praise Okon and the assaulted presenter Idy to hear their own sides of the story, and when we do so, we’ll put it up here.
Meanwhile, the host of the program, Ubon Marcus, when contacted by www.CONNOISSEURng.com was economical with words, saying he “it’s a bit complicated. There are messy details u don’t wanna hear, trust me."
In the meantime, with Ubon Marcus and two other presenters of the program set to leave for NYSC by November, 2012 coupled with the resignation of Sir James, we wonder what would be the fate of Youth Corner.
We’ll bring you more details of the story as it unfolds.
