AKHA 2019: Uproar in Nsit Ubium as Effiong Bob orders arrest of son’s opponent

There is currently uproar in Nsit Ubium Local Government as “Distinguished” Senator Effiong Dickson Bob, on Friday facilitated the arrest of his son’s opponent, Blessing Mbakara by the police.

Bob’s son, Otobong Effiong Bob, a young and budding lawyer who barely has 3 years post-bar experience has been drafted into politics by the father.

Senator Bob wants his son to replace Speaker Onofiok Luke as the representative of Nsit Ubium in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly of Assembly come 2019. Rt. Hon. Luke is not seeking a third term in office as he eyeing the Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives in Abuja.

According to findings by CONNOISSEUR, Friday’s arrest of Bob Junior’s major opponent, Hon. Blessing Mbakara, a former Councillor had the imprints of Senator Bob.

Mbakara was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police Force and whisked away to Abuja on trump up allegations of kidnapping.

 Mbakara’s arrest, according to reports filtering in from Nsit Ubium, has elicited uproar and outrage in the LGA, with many people, especially youths promising that the development will trigger a revolution in the area.

A source, who a is a political topshot from Nsit Ubium, who spoke to CONNOISSEUR last night said Bob is too greedy to be the political leader of the area.

Our source said that people of the area are very angry with the senator for trying to impose his son on them, and after seeing that his son is suffering major rejection for the AKHA 2019 seat, facilitated the arrest of his son’s number 1 opponent.

“This is Mbre Ikid gone wrong”, said our source. Bob is known to be the proponent of politics as a tortoise game.

“We have been reliably informed that his hands are not clean in the arrest of Mbakara. We have moved to inform the governor and the First Lady of this development.

“Bob’s selfishness is out of this world. He has been a councilor, an House of Assembly member, a Senator, a Commissioner and Attorney General, and has been appointed into several positions. His brother, Victor Bob is a member of the governor’s Ibom Deep Seaport committee. His younger brother is a top ranking member of the PDP exco in their ward. Now he wants to foist his son on us. The plan has already failed before it was launched. Brother chop, brother e no chop, e good? Na only him and him family dey?”, said our source.

Bob junior was said to be doing well as a young lawyer in Abuja as he was practicing in a top law firm in the nation’s capital. Bob junior had the aspiration of being the youngest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) before he was drafted into politics by his father who recently signed a communique lambasting Senator Godswill Akpabio over his feud with Governor Emmanuel.
