Cameroon's president orders Pentecostal churches closed

 Cameroon's President Paul Biya has ordered the closure of nearly 100 Christian churches in key cities, citing criminal practices organized by Pentecostal pastors that threaten the security of the West African nation. But Pentecostal pastors said the move is evidence of Biya's insecurity about the churches' criticism of the government.

Governor’s aide, Ini Ememobong rewards national IT quiz winners


The newly appointed Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Students Matters, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong has lauded Akwa Ibom students on excellent performance with a call on students to imbibe the culture of merit and excellence.  The governor’s aide made the remark while receiving Akwa Ibom Students who excelled in the 2013 Olatunji Odegbami Technology Competition held in Okokoijesha, Osun State.

Utang Akwa Ibom sacked as media aide to council chairman


Popular balladist and MC, David Sergeant popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom has been sacked by Hon. Ekerette Ekpenyong, the Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria as his Special Assistant on Media. www.connoisseurNG.com learnt on good authority that the dark-skinned TV presenter lost his job because the chairman doubted his loyalty, hence when the recent political crisis rocked the council with the purported impeachment of the leader of the legislature popped up, Hon. I know many may be surprised the guy has an offspring, but the photo on the left is that of the 7-week old baby (or should I say love-child?) of popular comedian and radio OAP, MC Spinosky. Her name is Miracle Ubong Ukutt (Ubong Ukutt is Spino’s real name). She looks pretty, that means the mom is cute. Meet Paulo Machado, the man who has lived in hospital for 45 years


A Brazilian man who suffered from infantile paralysis has reportedly spent the last 45 years living in a hospital bed. Paulo Machado, 45, has spent his entire life living in Clinicas hospital in San Paulo, Brazil, BBC reports. The bedridden Brazilian suffered from infantile paralysis after contracting polio as a child, and has been hospitalized ever since.

Governor Fashola’s dad is dead


Father of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, Alhaji Ademola Fashola, is dead. He died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 80. A statement by the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Mr. Lanre Babalola, said, “In total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the passage of our husband, father, grandfather  and great grandfather, Ibrahim Ademola Bayo Fashola,  which occurred on Monday August 5, 2013, at the age of 80.

Elder Patrick Albert of The Pioneer Newspapers has emerged as winner of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) election. At the poll which was conducted at the NUJ Secretariat, Information Drive, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Albert had 238 votes while his only opponent, Joe Effiong could only garner 138 votes.
