"Good morning. Despite our numerous and repeated warnings on Emmanuel TV, we are sad and shocked to regularly receive reports of people still being deceived on Facebook by individuals claiming to be or represent Prophet T.B. Joshua.
Our attention has been repeatedly drawn to a particular Facebook Page claiming to be one of the official pages of TB Joshua Ministries which now has nearly 250,000 likes - http://www.facebook.com/TBJscoanministries. This page is FRAUDULENT! It is using images of TB Joshua to gain attention but anyone who is a follower of Emmanuel TV will know that the message and contents of its posts do not in ANY WAY reflect the message and ministry of T.B. “This morning, I saw only the by-lines in one or two print media regarding the 80th Birthday dinner to which I was hosted by the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amechi, now Minister of Transportation. I ignored them. It was not, and remains not my business to probe into the catering and logistical implications of the hundreds of institutions and governments all over the world to whom I acknowledge an immense debt of unsolicited recognition over the years.

New kid on the block, DAILY DETAIL gradually taking over newsstands

Former Commissioner for Works in Akwa Ibom, Mr. Don Etim reading Daily Detail

A visit to the newsstands in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State shows that there is an array of assorted newspapers in circulation. According to the League of Newspaper Publishers, there are 91 (yes, I said ninety one) local newspapers who have registered with them. This is quite alarming. But there are many other newspapers who have not registered with the body. As at the last count, there are over 150 newspapers in circulation in the state. Now, that’s mind-blowing; right? That is the situation Akwa Ibom has found herself.
Apart from the commercial capital of the country, Lagos and the nation’s seat of power, Abuja, Akwa Ibom is rated as the state with the most vibrant media.

Onofiok Luke is a crowd puller, he is loved by all - Assemblyman

Hon. Aniekan Bassey is the member representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He spoke to newsmen on sundry issues. Excerpts:

You came into the House of Assembly in June, 2015. How far, so far?

I came into the House of Assembly by the special Grace of God. Not because I was too good as a politician. Of course I was not a politician. I was into business. My people saw the little contributions I have made so far over the years. By the grace of God, I have contributed immensely to the development of Uruan youths. Anywhere I am opportune to meet indigenes of Uruan, I support them in no small measure. So it was through popular demand that the people of my constituency said that I should represent them in the House of Assembly. And by the help of God, I went into the PDP primaries, I won convincingly. I went into the general elections and I won. I went to the tribunal, I think I was one of the first in my state to win my tribunal case and the first to have victory at the Court of Appeal.

President Buhari's media chat and the words of a tyrant, by Femi Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode

Mr. President, you will recall that I wrote you an open letter on December 28th, 2015 which I sincerely hope that you found most gratifying, illuminating and helpful.
That was two days before your Presidential media chat which took place on December 30th. I hereby humbly crave your indulgence to add an addendum to that open letter. That is what this contribution represents.
I hope and pray that this second letter, which will be the last, will further enlighten you and impart a little more wise counsel to you that will result in assisting you to properly appreciate the complexities of our times.
Mr. President it is pertinent to note that approximately two hundred and sixty five years ago one of the founding fathers of the United States of America, Mr. Benjamin Franklin, said "rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God". I am sure that you will agree with me when I say that he was absolutely right.

Why I didn’t emerge as Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly – Hon. Aniekan Bassey

Hon. Aniekan Bassey

The Member Representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniekan Bassey has stated why he didn’t emerge as the Speaker of the assembly after the Court of Appeal sacked immediate past Speaker, Hon. Aniekan Uko. In an interview with newsmen recently in his office, the businessman cum politician said the issue of him emerging Speaker of AKHA was purely speculative. Read below some excerpts from the interview:
“The issue of me being a Speaker was speculative. People thought since the Speakership position was zoned to Uyo Senatorial District, that I should emerge the speaker. So it was based on assumption that Uyo Federal Constituency should produce the speaker because the immediate past speaker was from Uyo Federal Constituency (Ibesikpo Asutan to be precise). People thought either Uruan, Uyo or Nsit Attai should produce the Speaker. But speakership is more than that. You have to look at capacity and you have to look at what we are facing at this particular time. I believe that the Speaker that we have is the best for the moment. He has the capacity. He is a former Students Union president and former Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament. He has the capacity to lead us at this time.

President Buhari's New Year message to Nigerians

Fellow Citizens,

Welcome to the beginning of a New Year of the continuation of CHANGE in our beloved nation.

I am aware that Nigerians have experienced a number of significant hardships over the past months. Living in the State House has not alienated me from your daily sufferings. I am aware of the lengthy queues at fuel stations and of the difficulties businesses have faced in acquiring foreign exchange. These challenges are only temporary; we are working to make things better.

When I presented myself to you as a presidential candidate and asked you to vote for me, I wanted to be a leader who keeps his promises. I wanted to be a leader who restores the people's hope in those elected to serve them. I wanted to be a leader who initiates positive and enduring CHANGE.

I am still totally committed to being that kind of leader. Unforeseen circumstances and other distractions notwithstanding, I shall still do my utmost best to keep every promise I made to Nigerians during my election campaign.

In the past seven months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, my administration has focused on laying the right foundation for the CHANGE you voted for during our historic presidential election.

Nigerians will in due course begin to enjoy the fruits of all our ongoing work. The effective and efficient implementation of our 2016 budget proposals will address many of the socio-economic issues that are of current concern to our people.

One area in which Nigerians, especially those in the northeast, have already begun to experience major CHANGE is in the war on terror.

I commend our Armed Forces for significantly curtailing the insurgency which has ravaged the northeast of Nigeria over the past few years.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done in the area of security. Our Armed Forces will maintain, consolidate and build on their successes in the war against Boko Haram and violent extremism.

This government will not consider the matter concluded until the terrorists have been completely routed and normalcy restored to all parts of the country that have been adversely affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Our crackdown on corruption will continue to be vigorously undertaken. I urge the courts to support our efforts and help in the recovery of stolen funds by speedily concluding trials and showing that impunity no longer has a place in our country.

There is much work to do in other areas as well and I have charged all my ministers and other appointees to ensure that Nigerians experience positive changes in their lives in 2016.

We must reduce our country's reliance on oil. We must diversify our economy. And we must do all we can to promote job creation.

Our challenges are many but our determination to succeed is strong and unshaken.

So too is our confidence in God.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

“Media Chat Exposed Buhari’s Undemocratic Character”- PDP

…Says President Should Apologize for Labeling Nigerians ‘Difficult Lot’

The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Thursday also said the President confirmed his partisanship in the much-vaunted war against corruption by openly absolving his ministers and party members of corrupt practices.
