2FACE IDIBIA TO PERFORM FOR GOV. AKPABIO AT THE SUN AWARDS

Innocent Ugah Idibia, a.k.a 2face, the multiple award winning artiste and sultry singer, will perform for Gov. Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State at the forthcoming The Sun Awards. The father of 5 is the star artiste expected to thrill guests at this year’s The Sun Awards. It could be recalled that Gov. Akpabio was announced the The Sun Man of the Year recently and will be honoured and given his plaque at the Awards gala dinner which will hold at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
The iconic singer was at The Sun corporate office recently to sign the contract to perform at the re-loaded awards, which usually attracts celebrities from different industries.

Receiving Tuface in his office, Mr. Tony Onyima, Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of The Sun Publishing Limited commended the artiste for his global accomplishments and urged him to remain focused in his quest to put Nigeria on the global music map. “Signing on an A list artiste like Tuface is part of our efforts to make The Sun Awards a total entertainment brand,” Onyima said adding that in the days to come, more artistes will be signed on.

Responding, Tuface who was accompanied by his managers, said he was delighted to be part of The Sun Awards. “I am delighted to be part of the awards,” he said adding that he had to re-arrange his prior schedule abroad to accept The Sun’s offer. The singer, songwriter, record producer and actor is expected to add glitz, glamour and panache to the evening event. The former member of the defunct hip-hop group, Plantashun Boyz, is currently the most popular artiste on the African scene and was recently featured on CNN African Voices.

The Sun Awards was instituted in 2003 to honour Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in chosen fields of endeavours. It is also The Sun’s humble way of honouring Nigerian patriots whose public conduct and actions have helped to inspire hope for a better Nigeria.

The 9th edition of the awards has been expanded to include seven other categories namely: Lifetime Achievement Award, Public Service Award, Business Person of the Year, The Nigerian Hero Award, Sports Person of the Year, Banker of the Year and Creative Person of the Year.
