‘I didn’t scatter Mo’Hits’ – Don Jazzy

In the last few weeks, the world has seen the end of an era – the Mo’Hits era, but not without a full dose of drama – more drama than in those recycled South-American soap operas.
Drama backed with claims, counter claims, responses, counter responses, exclusive interviews, exposing facts and leaked E-mails. And if you think the drama is over, you are hereby advised to grab a bowl of popcorn, snuggle up in your couch and keep watching, because from the looks of it, this isn’t ending soon.
If you’ve followed the Mo’Hits brouhaha – a la the ‘D’banj VS Don Jazzy messy fight’, you’ve either been entertained, amused or downright irritated. Nevertheless, the drama continues with both parties still not letting their guards down…
It’s been the same old story for most persons with the title ‘Don’ in the mafia movies – unparalleled rise to success, years of reign and respect but then an ultimate crash. Name it – Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, Casino, Frank Lucas….it’s all the same. Is this the same fate of our beloved Don Jazzy?
Don Jazzy was hardly the fan favourite back then; sure, he was respected, but he wasn’t the one the fans clung to. He barely spoke, letting D’banj do all the talking (and gesticulating). Don Jazzy grew the persona of a real mafia don – you know, like the ones in Sicily that head the cartel, always feared and respected, known to bless careers with hits (songs) upon hits.

Mya K awarded two scholarships in UK

Time out with Mya K in Nigeria is always short and precious as she has to touch different states in Nigeria anytime she is on a short break from school. On her last trip last month, she hinted press men about the double scholarship she was awarded in the United Kingdom. One is in her regular primary school, while the other is in her music school.

I am sure the school authorities must have observed with keen interest her rapid development in the art, and her ability to blend both studies with the pursuit of her musical career which is quite demanding. It will be recalled that Mya K was in Nigeria late 2011 and asides recording of tracks, shooting of her videos, and promotions, she also organized a media parley with who is who in the entertainment sector in the South of Nigeria. Talents imbedded in the little girl even got the attention of the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, and she was invited to dine with the first family in the state on Christmas eve.

Recently, after months, nightlife was revived by the re-opening of Javis Nite Club in the heart of Uyo by Kabash the Atlantic FM House Party presenter and artiste manager whose creative ideas and affiliation with Chop Money Boiz movement helped to revive the club.
Her departure from Javis Nite Club had caused many ripples in high and low places, last week, it was in the news that the relationship with the club owner went soar, but with an aoita truth, Edu left for National Youth Service Corps in a nothern state, now she is done and it is worth thanking God for. Of cause, Javis should be the best choice of location, ignoroing her unofficial affiliation with M-Lounge Nite Club at Monty Suites.

It has come to light that Ghanaian star, Van Vicker was recently arrested in Nigeria. The actor had flown into Nigeria, with several fake guns, which he had intended to use in a movie. At the airport, he was asked to identify the items in his luggage, and when the fake guns were discovered, he was taken to the office of the State Security Service (SSS) in Ikoyi for further questioning.
Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to send a BB message to star actress, Uche Jombo, asking for her assistance. The actress was able to facilitate the release of the Ghanaian star from detention, but without his prop guns. Sorry about the nasty experience Van. Don't let it get you down.

D’banj: How Don Jazzy betrayed me

This is a very revealing interview of D’banj as conducted by TheNet’s Ayeni Adekunle. Quite incisive, revealing and entertaining. You can’t afford to miss it.
There’s an important person in that building, right?’ the cab driver asked. ‘Important musician?
I nodded, too tired to let any curious driver drag me into a conversation.
He got the message and left me alone the entire drive from Canary Wharf to the London Marriot Hotel, in Grosvenor Square.
Then, as I got down to get my suitcase from the trunk, he gave me a knowing look, smiled, and said ‘are you the musician?

President Jonathan makes list of 100 Most Influential People in the World

President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria yesterday made The TIME 100 most influential people in the world. TIME took time to x-ray and bring out the names of the people who have made more news in different fields such as sport, politics, business etc in the past 12 months.

Below is what Jonhson Sirleaf, President of Liberia wrote about Goodluck Jonathan as he made the TIME list:

Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan exemplifies the African political renaissance at a time when the people of the continent are starting to reap the fruit of their resources and their hard work. President Jonathan, 54, possesses the qualities needed at this moment of great challenges, having come to power at a crucial moment in the history of Nigeria. The country has grown out of its past of corruption, mismanagement and brutality, but the foundation of good governance is still fragile.
In two short years, President Jonathan has shown the same dexterity he demonstrated as governor of Bayelsa, the same ability to find the remedies to the many complexities of running a nascent democracy. He has spearheaded the fight against corruption and turned Nigeria into an example of good governance. He has also made a significant impact on consolidating peace and security in West Africa. From the onset of our own crisis, Liberia has benefitted from the support of Nigeria. President Jonathan not only upheld the trend but added to it. With leaders like President Jonathan, Africa is sure to move toward prosperity, freedom and dignity for all of its people.
Johnson Sirleaf is the President of Liberia

Bayo, as he was fondly called was to marry his fiancée in May of last year and was actually on his way back to Nigeria to finalise the marriage plans.

It’s a pity…just like raindrops falling from our eyes, just like tear drops falling from the skies (thanks 2baba).
