El-Mafrex, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Ice Prince lose out at 2013 MOBO Awards

Akwa Ibom born Scotland based gospel artiste, El-Mafrex yet again lost out at the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, having suffered the same fate last year. In this year’s award, he was nominated in the ‘Best Gospel’ category which was eventually won by Lurine Cato. In the ‘Best African Act’ category, Ghanaian singer, Fuse ODG got the nod of voters ahead of Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage, Seun Kuti, Ice Prince and Wizkid. Happy birthday to Wizkid

Today, 16 July, is the birthday of Wizkid.  Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun a.k.a Wizkid is a talented singer, songwriter and performer. He recently won the BET Award in the category of Best African Act. His true age has been controversial as some say he is 23 while others write that he is 22 today. All the same, Connoisseur wishes him a happy birthday.

Wande first wrote “Wande Coal + Wizkid” on his Facebook fan page. On Tuesday, 10^th July, Wizkid tweeted “At d airport..(My second home)..lol...---->Lagos for 3days..can't wait to link with d brother @wandecoal!!..gats make music!!”.

Nigerian music prodigy, Wizkid on Sunday July 1, 2012 at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles won the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award in the category of Best International Act – Africa, scooping the award alongside Ghana’s Sarkodie. The duo defeated Iceprince, Lira, Mokobe, and Camp Mulla to cart home the statuette. Last year, Nigeria’s music Icon, 2face Idibia also tied fellow Nigerian D’banj as winners in the category.

Akon announces Konvict/EME Worldwide deal for WizKid

It’s official again! Wizkid is now official a Konvict/EME artist. Akon made the announcement via his twitter account earlier today. In his words “It’s OFFICIAL!!!! KONVICT/EME is now the official label for WIZ KID worldwide. WOW!! Hope u ready!!”

The deal had been in the works ever since WizKid was announced Konvict music rep. Biggger and brighter things for the kid, and for EME as a whole.

Congrats to the 22 year old.
