Akwa United team bus catches fire, team doctor injured

The team bus of Premier League side, Akwa United Thursday morning caught fire while the Uyo-based team was in their way back from Ibadan where they had a mid-week NPL fixture with 3SC which they lost 2-0 to the home team.

According to the team’s goalie, John Dosu who spoke to Connoisseur, the fire caught a part of the bus while it was on motion along Ilesha road.

He said apart from the team doctor who was slightly hurt nobody was injured in the incident.

“Someone has gone to buy a replacement for the part which was burnt. We are currently stranded but we hope to arrive Uyo by 2am tomorrow”, said Dosu. Below are some pictures from the scene of the incident.
