Today, 29^th September is the birthday of several top Nigerian celebrities. One of them is veteran actress Joke Silva. The ever smiling Joke Silva was born on 29 September 1961. She has received several awards and nominations for her work as an actress including the awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2006, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2008. She is married to actor Olu Jacobs.

Why there were plans to dethrone Miss Akwa Ibom 2012

Reasons have unfolded on why there were initial plans by the organizers of the recently concluded Miss Akwa Ibom to dethrone Miss Andinouwem Bassey who came out tops at the pageant. A source told us that the new queen used a fake name and her age was also falsified. The source said her names are Andinouwem Essien Attah but possibly owing to the fact that she didn’t want to be known as a member the Attah lineage during the pageant, she registered for the pageant as Andinouwem Bassey.

Revealed: Miss Akwa Ibom 2012 is ex Governor Attah’s niece

Connoisseur has scooped that Miss Andinouwem Bassey who was crowned Miss Akwa Ibom 2012 last weekend is a niece to former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah. We learnt that Miss Andino’s father is Elder Essien Bassey Attah who is the ex governor’s younger brother. It’s also revealed that Bassey who is an Elder of Qua Iboe Church had earlier disapproved his daughter’s intention of contesting for the coveted crown of Miss Akwa Ibom.

Today, 23^rd September, is the birthday of Akwa Ibom State. The state clocks 25 today as it was created on 23^rd September, 1987. Akwa Ibom is a state in Nigeria named after the Qua Iboe river. It is located in the coastal South-Southern part of the country, lying between latitudes 4°321 and 5°331 North, and longitudes 7°251 and 8°251 East. The State is bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the South by the Atlantic Ocean and the southern-most tip of Cross River State.

Akwa Ibom @ 25: Media Celebrities beat Cafenol, Armstrong, Mista Xto in novelty football match

Media celebrities on Thursday, 20^th September, 2012 defeated Entertainment Stars in a novelty football match played to celebrate Akwa Ibom at 25. The match which took place at Government Technical College, Ewet, Uyo recorded a goalless draw at the end of an entertaining 90 minutes. The game however went straight into penalty shoot out. Captain of the entertainment stars, actor Moses Armstrong and gospel music act Godfada lost their kicks while Pastor Idy James, Clifford Thomas, Essien Ndueso, and Promise Etim all scored from the spot to give the media celebs a victory.

2011 guber polls: Gov. Akpabio finally wins Frank Okon in court

Gov. Godswill Akpabio’s victory at the January 2011 PDP Guber Primaries in Akwa Ibom State has been re-affirmed and authenticated by the Federal High Court, Abuja. Delivering judgment, Justice Abdul Kafarati said Frank Okon didn’t stand election and has no locus standi to challenge the victory of Akpabio at election. The court which was filled the brim, leaving thousands of people outside the court premises saw wild jubilation from the supporters of the incumbent governor, Akpabio.

In memory of Tupac Shakur

Today we remember late iconic American rapper Tupac Shakur. He died on 13^th September, 1996. Tupac Amaru Shakur known by his stage names 2Pac, Pac, and Makaveli, was an American rapper and actor. Shakur had sold over 75 million records worldwide as of 2010, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. Rolling Stone Magazine named him the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time.  On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was taken to the University Medical Center, where he died six days later. CONNOISSEUR fondly remembers him. If you are or were his fan, drop a message below in his honour.

Boys are steadily growing in to men, as they as growing, they are also upgrading. Former Bush House sportsman and freelance sports analyst, Iniobong Monday recently acquired a Toyota Corolla XLi. Good to see him join the League of Car Owners (LCO) Akwa Ibom State Chapter. Ramsey Nouah returns to Uyo for…

Former Nollywood ‘Loverboy’, Ramsey Nouah is in Uyo. Connoisseur spotted the fair-skinned actor at the Ministry of Works, Uyo on Monday in company of Ime ‘Okon Lagos’ Umoh. We learnt that Ramsey has been contacted to do some stuffs for the state ahead of the silver jubilee celebrations. The pix above shows him with the Publisher of Community Pulse newspaper – Uko Umoh. It could be recalled that another Nollywood star, Victor Osuagwu was in Uyo last week for the same reason. Connoisseur also learnt that it’s India-trained video director Eddie Brendan who is handling the shoot of the work.

A.J.E to shoot Indigenous MaliQ’s videos

Celebrated and much respected video director – Anietie Etkins of A.J.E Filmworks is to shoot the video of Ibibio rap new kid on the block, Indigenous MaliQ. Information at the disposal of Connoisseur has it that the CEO of Monty Suites, Mr. Monday Uko is set to bankroll the shoot of MaliQ’s videos by the Akwa Ibom born video-man.

It could be recalled that Mr. Uko had verbally signed up MaliQ after his breath-taking performance at the Akwa Ibom Industry Night some weeks back. The Monty Suites owner had promised to sponsor the shoot of MaliQ’s videos at locations of his choice.

FRESH: David Daniels Premiers Two Singles Ahead of AKS Anniversary Celebration, signs deal with Equinox Entertainment

Ahead of the forthcoming 25^th Anniversary celebration of Akwa Ibom state, David Daniels, a versatile Lagos-based music artiste and indigene of Ikot Ekpene, has dropped two hot singles to herald his entry into the state’s music scene. Recently signed to EQUINOX ENTERTAINMENT, the artiste is an A-list performer who was born in Doula (Cameroun) and holds a degree in Business Admin from the University of Uyo. The 3^rd edition of The Connoisseur Show played host to the Apostle of Ibibio Rap – Zillions. The show which is hosted by celebrity journalist and Nigeria’s Youngest Editor Ever – Ifreke Nseowo was aired on UNIUYO FM 100.7Mhz.

Zillions also nicknamed Dondada, while on the hotseat spoke about himself, sojourn in the entertainment industry, and other sundry issues while his favorites songs were intermittently played in the course of the program.

The Connoisseur Show hosts Mish and Icekyd; Zillionz to be on hotseat this Sunday

The second edition of THE CONNOISSEUR SHOW played host to two of Akwa Ibom’s biggest music acts – Mish and Icekyd. The show, coming off the ‘Connoisseur’ brand of Nigeria’s Youngest Editor Ever – Ifreke Nseowo airs on 100.7Mhz every Sunday from 6-7. The two stars took turns to talk about many sundry issues in their careers and personal life as their favourite tracks were intermittently played. Former C-Panel presenter Nelson Nseabasi was the surrogate host of the program while the regular host Nseowo a.k.a Connoisseur was off the mic. Aniekan Ekah of Wetinhappen.com and Asteroid of ‘Musik Alive’ fame were all in the studio. The show returns this Sunday with Nsa Isong crooner - Zillionz on the hotseat. More photos after the cut...
