Today, July 11 is the birthday of veteran and well respected actor, Oludotun Jacobs a.k.a Olu Jacobs. He was born in 1942, and if you calculate that well, that makes him 70years today. He is married to the ever-smiling and gorgeous Nollywood actress, Joke Silva. Connoisseur wishes the London-trained award winning actor a happy birthday.

Breaking: Akwa Ibom defeats C’River State in Supreme Court over 76 Oil wells

The lingering dispute between sister states, Cross River and Akwa Ibom over which of them owns the 76 oils came to an end today, Tuesday with the Supreme Court ruling in favour of the latter.

Not many artistes are comfortable with being known for music that is a tad revolutionary. The few ones that came have long since been drowned into the monotony of mainstream music and all we have of them are old records that clearly show the gulf between their past and the present. There's always been a muffled cry and call for conscious music.

The Supreme Court Friday morning sacked Hon. Eseme Eyiboh as member representing Eket Federal Consituency of Akwa Ibom State at House of Representatives.

It could be recalled that Eyiboh in January, 2012 lost at Court of Appeal where Justice Ayo Bada read out a unanimous judgment upholding the victory of Bassey Dan Abia Jnr. as the PDP candidate at the 2011 primaries of the party.

Today, 6 July, is the birthday of controversial singer Curtis James Jackson III better known as 50 Cent. 50 Cent, an American rapper, entrepreneur, investor, record producer, and actor was born born July 6, 1975.

Today, July 6, is the birthday of star actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD). He was born 51 years ago in Warri, Delta state. He has acted in scores of Nollywood movies and soaps. He currently serves as Commissioner of Culture and Tourism in Delta State.

NUC suspends licenses of Obong, Madonna and 5 other universities

The operational license of Obong University, Obong, Akwa Ibom State has been revoked alongside that of 6 other Universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The other affected varsities are Achievers University, Owo; Caritas University, Enugu; Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Osun; Lead City University, Ibadan; Madonna University, Okija, and Tansian University, Umunya.

Akwa United team bus catches fire, team doctor injured

The team bus of Premier League side, Akwa United Thursday morning caught fire while the Uyo-based team was in their way back from Ibadan where they had a mid-week NPL fixture with 3SC which they lost 2-0 to the home team.

According to the team’s goalie, John Dosu who spoke to Connoisseur, the fire caught a part of the bus while it was on motion along Ilesha road.

Spain football star, Andres Iniesta set to wed this weekend

After winning Euro 2012 with Spain and also being named the player of the tournament, Barcelona midfielder, Andres Iniesta is set to cap off a fine summer by walking down the aisle.

The 28 year old will marry his girl friend Anna Ortiz who he has been dating since 2008. Their daughter, Valeria who was born last year will be present alongside 800 guests who have been invited for the event.

Chocolate City’s new shining star, Ashimi Olawale better known as BrymO has finished shooting the video of his newest single, ‘Good Morning’. The shoot was handled by Ani James Etkins of AJE Filmworks. The shoot was done and dusted yesterday, July 3, 2012.

The 2^nd runner-up of penultimate MTN Project Fame West Africa, Eyo Eminue a.k.a Akwa Ibom Fine Boy is set to release his single, ‘Wedding Day’. Eyo is working on releasing his first album, same with friend fellow PFW star, Chidinma whose two singles ‘Jankoliko’ and ‘Kedike’ have become hits. The University of Uyo graduate jokingly took his Facebook account to announce when the single will drop. Below is his post on Facebook. A lot really thought he’s getting married for real (lol).

UNIUYO releases 2012 aptitude test results

The institution recently conducted aptitude test for admission into the varsity for the 2012/2013 academic session. The results of the tests which spanned from 16 – 21 June, 2012 have been released two weeks after. Students are to check their results HERE, with JAMB Reg Number, Access Code and Phone Number as the requirements.
