Okonjo-Iweala congratulates Jim Yong Kim after failing in World Bank Presidency bid

Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has congratulated Dr. Jim Yong Kim on his emergence as the President of the World Bank.

As expected, American nominee Jim Yong Kim was named the next President of the World Bank. Mr. Kim was nominated by United States President Barak Obama last month to replace Robert Zoellick, who has held the position since 2007.

In her message titled “We have Made History” and monitored by Connoisseur.com on Facebook, Iweala said “Our credible and merit-based challenge to a long-standing and unfair tradition will ensure that the process of choosing a World Bank president will never be the same again”.

Today is the birthday of Pope Benedict XVI. He turns 85 today and Thursday will mark the seventh anniversary of his election as pope, the 265th pope in a long line spanning the centuries from St. Peter onward.

Pope Benedict XVI was born in Germany and grew up under war reparations from World War I and as the Nazi regime was gaining power. He was briefly a member of the Hitler Youth in his early teens, after membership became mandatory in 1941. He turned to theological studies after the war, helping found the influential journal Communio. He was elevated to the papacy in 2005.

A 300-level student of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, Ogba, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has gone nude to break into the big league of the glamorous Nigerian movie industry, known as Nollywood, saying she wants to be famous and rich. The 21-year-old student, Ms. Enitan Adeshola Okesanya, vowed to enter the industry with a big bang. “I think there is something missing in the industry and that’s me. I seriously think so. Gringory to be buried in Abia on May 5

The family of late James Kelechi Iroha popularly known as Gringory has announced the final burial plans of the late veteran actor.

After several family meetings and consultations, Saturday, May 5, 2012 has been slated for the internment.

According to a statement released by the late actor’s family, Iroha will be buried in Bende Local Government area of Abia state.
