Police parades suspected Akwa Ibom fraudsters scamming people with President Buhari’s name

It is gathered that some fraudsters who have been using President Muhammadu Buhari's name to defraud people, were arrested in Akwa Ibom state recently. According to a reports, 16 suspects (10 men and 6 women) were arrested and paraded for defrauding unsuspecting victims while pretending to be the Nigerian president. The suspected fraudsters who were caught on June 30,2017, around Atiku Abubakar way in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, were said to have formed a fake group known as "Niger Delta Youths, Women and Security Movement for Buhari”. The suspects were said to have sold several forms bearing that name to unsuspecting members of the public, claiming they were hiring people to become law enforcement officers.

Mother-of-all-empowerments: Senator Akpabio to empower over 2,500 constituents (see photos)



Senator Godswill Akpabio will today empowerment over 2,500 constituents of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. The event is scheduled to take place at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
The event will have the governor of the State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the Chief Host while the Senate President, His Excellency, Dr. Bukola Saraki would be the Special Guest of Honour. The deputy governor, His Excellency, Mr. Moses Ekpo is billed to Chair the event. Grapevine has also hinted that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State would be in attendance. His Excellency, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy Senate President is also billed to be in attendance. Aside from the isolated personages, political leaders, party stalwarts, stakeholders, royal fathers, the clergy, youths, women and the general public are expected to grace the epochal event.

FG Agrees To Publish Names Of Looters

The Federal Government has announced plans to publish names of treasury looters as ordered by a Federal High Court in Lagos. The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Let me make this abundantly clear right from the outset. I love and respect Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the supreme leader of the Biafran movement, the founder and convener of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the man that I have appropiately dubbed as the Lion of the East.
I do not however agree with him on EVERYTHING and neither do I share his views about President Goodluck Jonathan.

Newman's Goal Moves Akwa Utd to 3rd spot



Akwa United cruised to third place on the Nigeria Professional Football League table with a 1-0 victory over Enyimba International at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
In form striker Musa Newman scored the only goal of the crucial encounter in the 15th minute tucking in Ubong Friday's excellent cross.

Breaking: Female lawyer emerges NBA chairman



Mrs Eno-Obong Bassey Akpan has emerged the Chairman of NBA, Uyo branch. In today’s election, she polled a total of 203 votes to her rival’s (Obong Patrick Usen’s) 125 votes.
The new NBA boss has spent 27 years at the bar. She was called to the Bar in1990. She graduated from the Nigerian Law School with a second Class Upper Division. After graduation, she had a brief stint in litigation. She branched out into corporate practice, and thereafter into NGO work. She has an MBA degree. She also has a Diploma in Transitional Justice and Human Rights from the Institute of Justice and Reconciliation in South Africa. Currently, she is running an LLM programme in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

Cristiano Ronaldo is officially a father of three. The Real Madrid player welcomed twins recently, the soccer star announced by sharing a sweet photo to his Facebook page Thursday.
Despite earlier reports of Ronaldo expecting twin sons, the proud new dad is photographed holding one baby in a blue romper and one baby in a pink dress. Ronaldo has yet to confirm the sexes or names of the babies.

Former Governor of Taraba, Suntai is dead



Former Governor Dambaba Suntai of Taraba State who survived an air crash at the Yola Airport in Adamawa State in 2012 has died. Suntai died at home where he was undergoing rehabilitation for brain injuries arising from the plane crash. May his soul rest in peace.

Akwa Ibom announces date for LG polls



The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) has fixed November 11, 2017 as the day for the Local Government Elections in the state. This was made known by the Chairman of the electoral body, Mrs Gloria Ukpong during a meeting with top political stakeholders across all the registered political parties in the state. There have been growing agitations for the governor to conduct LG elections two years after he was elected into office. The tenure of the current transition committees is expected to expire on Monday 3rd July, 2017 but it is believed the tenure will be extended by another six months.
