Publisher of www.wetinhappen.com turns 30 today


The publisher of www.wetinhappen.com - Aniekan James Ekah, an author, a Media Resource Person, Visionary Entrepreneur, IT Consultant, Online PR/Advert Specialist and Event Manager, is a native of Afaha Ube Itam, in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria and he is marking his 30th birthday today 8th August 2012!
Aniekan is undoubtedly one of the numerous young people making Akwa Ibom proud through resilience and hardwork in their field of endeavors. This IT whiz-kid is an old student of Lutheran High School, Obot Idim, with a university background in Microbiology.
He has been involved in numerous It-related projects over the years and has been an outstanding youth personality in the State. He is presently a columnist and the online editor of e101magazine.
Through his noticeable result-oriented attitude, he was selected to represent Akwa Ibom State in the 2008 Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Forum in Abuja.
Also in 2008, out of over 333,000 applicants worldwide, Aniekan Ekah was among the 24 selected participants of Sprout e-Course, a 6-month online training course in project management and in 2009, he founded www.wetinhappen.com – a fast-rising online news magazine in Nigeria. By December 2011, www.wetinhappen.com was ranked the most popular news blog in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with over 50,000 visits!
Also in 2011, Aniekan was a part of Google Forum (Gnaija) 2010 and he has been linked with effective online PR and campaigns for notable events liken Christy Essien Igbokwe’s Remembrance Concert, Pastor Goody Goody’s album launch, Etighi Amplified (Uyo and Calabar editions), Orange Carnival, Ibom Fashion Collective, Bum-short Party 2010 and Amaecom Global Limited’s Customers Forum/Product Launch, Uyo Model Search 2012, 1st Akwa Ibom Entertainment Industry Nite, Pattina’s Album Listening Party/Video Premiere etc.
Manpo, as he is fondly called, has been linked with success stories of the prestigious Nigerian music review website, www.hypestationng.com, www.naijareview.com and www. connoisseurng.com.
He is also behind the Usem Akwa Ibom Project on Facebook-an online project that creates awareness on the use of Akwa Ibom languages on the Internet which is celebrated yearly to commemorate the State’s creation anniversary every year.
 Aniekan is also involved in youth activism and humanitarian projects and has worked with notable organizations like Taking IT Global (www.takingitglobal.org.), Creating Locale Connection-West Africa(CLCWA), Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS(GYCA), African Youth Enlightenment society(AYES), International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, National Youth Policy E-Consultations and Junior Chamber International(JCI) where he was the 2011 Director of Communications and presently, a JCI Ambassador and recently,  the 2012 President of JCI Uyo City.
Aniekan worked professionally as a Database Manager with Backup Integrated Services, Port Harcourt. He is currently an online media consultant for Seal-World Technologies, Uyo.  Aniekan is a professional blogger, a social media icon, an advocate of entrepreneurship. He is the author of 30 Questions You Were Afraid to Ask about the Internet and other Internet related literature. He is currently single and searching.
