Pat Akpabio set for third album release in Atlanta


Gospel singer, Pat Akpabio’s 3rd album is done and dusted and she is set to release it soon. She stated few details of the release in a facebook post:

Nollywood star, Ime ‘Bishop’ Umoh shifts wedding date


Remember www.connoisseurNG.com broke the news of the extremely hilarious actor getting married. Ime Bishop Umoh’s traditional marriage to his fiancé, Idara was supposed to take place today, 12 September while the wedding at Insight Bible Church was billed to take place two days later, but the dates have been shifted. The new dates are 17 and 19 October, 2013 for the TM and wedding respectively. Every other thing remains the same. Once again, congrats to them.

President Jonathan sacks 9 ministers…


President Goodluck Jonathan has reshuffled his cabinet, dropping nine ministers. The ministers affected are Ruqayat Rufai (Education); Zainab Kunchi (Power, [state]); Buka Tijani (Agriculture [state]), Shamsudeen Usman (National Planning; Ita Okon (Science and Technology);  Olugbenga Ashiru (Foreign Affairs); Ama Pepple (Lands) and Hadiza Mailafia (Environment). The affected ministries have been handed over to some of the retained minister to run its affairs until new substantive ministers are appointed.

Yinka Gbadebo remains our president - NANS


The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has dismissed the purported impeachment of its president and leader, Comrade Yinka Gbadebo aka Ayefele, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers. A statement by the Vice President Special Duties of the Association, Comrade Ubon Marcus states in part that "the purported impeachment of our President is false. For the benefit of doubt, let me make it clear that an officer of NANS can only be impeached on the floor of NANS Senate not in a so-called stakeholders meeting.

PDP post convention dinner: a proof of FG's insensitivity to the plight of students - NANS


The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has berated the Federal Government for what it described as government's deliberate and persistent negligence of education in the country. This was contained in a statement issued by the Vice President Special Duties of the Association, Comrade Ubon Marcus. The apex Nigerian students' body lamented that while students were suffering from the hardship of the lingering ASUU strike all what our leaders could do is waste the much needed tax payers money on the PDP Post Convention Dinner at a time when such resources would have been channelled towards resolving serious issues affecting the citizenry such as the ASUU strike.

Edo state sends stowaway boy to boarding school

Edo State Government, in mid-western Nigeria, has secured admission in one of the state’s top secondary schools for 13-year-old Daniel Oikhena, who stowed away in the wheel well of an Arik Aircraft from Benin to Lagos on Saturday August 24, this year. The State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole made this disclosure during the visit of Mr George Uriesi, Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other FAAN Management team to him at the Government House, Benin City, yesterday.

Kaduna state governor, Mukhtar Yero sacks cabinet


Governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero sent his enter cabinet packing. In a statement announcing dissolution of the State Executive Council, the spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, said Governor Yero thanked the commissioners for their valuable contributions to the state and wished them success in their future endeavors. The commissioners were directed to handover the affairs of their respective ministries to their permanent secretaries within two days.

Fani-Kayode withdraws comments about Bianca


A week after Bianca Ojukwu threatened a lawsuit over an “intimate relationship” comment about her, Nigeria’s former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has withdrawn the controversial comment. In a statement through his lawyer, Rotimi Akinola, on Thursday, Mr. Fani-Kayode accepted that he erred by making the comment but said it was “bizarre, absurd and inexplicable” that the wife of the late Biafran warlord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, claimed they were never acquainted. Timaya has not signed me - Ikpa Udo

Nelson Mandela discharged from hospital

Nelson Mandela has been discharged from the Pretoria hospital where he had been receiving treatment since June, the South African president's office said Sunday. Mandela, 95, was hospitalized June 8 because of a lung infection. He marked his July birthday at the Pretoria hospital where he has been surrounded by relatives
