Governor Wike sacks Works Commissioner

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has sacked the State Commissioner of Works, Mr Bathuel Harrison. According to a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media on 22^nd June, 2017, the former commissioner has been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works.

INEC confirms receipt of signatures for Dino Melaye’s recall

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed receipt of over half of the registered voters that voted in the senatorial election that saw the emergence of Dino Melaye. INEC however  said it has set Monday, July 3^rd for verification of the signatures.

Buhari suffers memory loss, speech difficulties in London

According to Sahara Reporters breaking news which quotes Presidency sources, President Muhammad Buhari, who left Nigeria 45 days ago to resume treatment for an undisclosed medical condition believed to be cancer, has developed speech difficulties. The report stated that, "Previously, Mr. Buhari was also said to be suffering memory lapses. The latest revelation stems from recent attempts to return the President to Nigeria by members of a cabal managing his health and using it to deceive Nigerians.”

LEADERSHIP Award postponed to Friday

The board and management of LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group Ltd have shifted this year’s LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards from Thursday, March 16 to Friday, March 17. The venue remains the Abuja International Conference Centre.

The shift became necessary as the National Economic Council, NEC meeting, is slated for March 16. The meeting is chaired by the vice president with the governors of the 36 states as members. Some of the governors are slated to receive award at the LEADERSHIP event.

The theme of this year’s conference is “The Rice Economy.” In keeping with its tradition of celebrating excellence among individuals and organisations in various fields of human endeavour, the board and management of LEADERSHIP Group in December, 2016, singled out some entities and personalities, who distinguished themselves over the period for award. For all they were able to do and achieve in 2016, three illustrious personalities, namely: Senator Abubakar Bagudu (governor, Kebbi State), Mr Godwin Emefiele, (governor, Central Bank), and Mr Ibrahim Magu, (acting chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC) were nominated for the award of “LEADERSHIP Person of the Year.”

2019: Aniekan Umanah declares for House of Reps; says Emman Ekon should support him
