There was no bank robbery in Uyo yesterday, only a cult clash - Police


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has said there was no bank robbery in Uyo, the state capital on Tuesday. The position of the security agency was made known by the Force’s Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu. He said there was a clash between rival cult groups at Abak Road close to where banks are located, stating that the police only stepped in to restore order.

PDP to Hold National Convention on August 12


The National Executive of the Peoples Democratic Party has fixed August 12, 2017, to hold a none-elective national convention in Abuja.

The decision comes after a series of meetings by the various organs of the party since Monday.

At an expanded caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday, Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan called on members of the party to focus on rebuilding it ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Uyo High Court dissolves 18-year old marriage over wife’s poor cooking



The marriage that was contracted in July, 1999, was terminated today, as an Uyo High Court dissolves a 18-year-old union between one Nseobong Ukpong and his wife, Mary, over poor cooking by the wife. The Presiding Judge while dissolving the marriage, said there was “no longer any love in the marriage’’.

Police confirms transfer of CP Awunah, SP Julian



The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Don Awunah, has been transferred from the state barely seven months after assuming office. Mr. Awunah, the 21st commissioner of police in the state, took over from his predecessor, Muritala Mani, in January.

INEC denies stopping the recall of Melaye




The attention of the Commission has been drawn to some media reports suggesting that the Commission has halted the process of recall of the Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye.
