About The Onofiok Luke Legislative Internship Programme (TOLLIP)


 INTRODUCTION
The Onofiok Luke Legislative Internship Programme (TOLLIP) is a pioneer attempt at simplifying the workings of the legislature and drawing higher levels of public participation in and awareness about the legislature. This pioneer scheme which is to be powered by the Member Representing Nsit Ubium in the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, will train the participants in areas like legislative drafting, debates, leadership development, oversight among others.
The legislative internship programme will serve as a platform for leadership training for the next generation and to prepare them for future leadership engagements.

The three-year romance between the popular Prime minister of the airwaves, Aniekeme Finbarr and Bush House Nigeria has ended on a sour note.
Impeccable sources told Connoisseur that what started as a cold war between the duo of Finbarr and the CEO of Bush House, Michael Bush few months ago has now snowballed into a full blown crisis which saw to the exit of the youthful Finbarr from the Abuja corporate headquarters of the outfit, Monday.

Samuel Okwaraji: 23 years after




Former Nigerian football star, Samuel Okwaraji died on this day (August 12) in 1989. Today makes it 23 years since he collapsed and died of congestive heart failure in the 77th minute of a World Cup qualification match against Angola at the Lagos National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State. We fondly remember him.

I actually found this picture when I was going through my pix archives and I decided to share it with you. The above picture was taken when Samuel Peter was crowned the WBC heavyweight Boxing Champion in Madison Square Garden, USA back in 2007. You can spot Godswill Akpabio, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State (2nd from left) rejoicing with the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ alongside his now political opponent John Udoedehe (right). That was when the going was good. I won’t be surprised if they become friends again tomorrow because in politics they say there is no permanent friend nor enemy but permanent interest.

Video: Mish performs in SAGE World Cup in San Francisco

                     
Music star and ‘Akwa Ibom Ayaya’ crooner, Mish performed at the 2012 SAGE World Cup in San Francisco, CA, USA. The event which took place between 27th through 30th of July, 2012 saw the fair-skinned dude wowing the audience at the last day of the competition. SAGE, an educational event with representatives from all parts of the world, saw Team Nigeria winning the world cup for two years in a row.
Mish performed ‘Love in sharing’, ‘Every Woman is Beautiful’ and the monster hit, ‘Akwa Ibom Ayaya’. Congrats to him and Team Nigeria. Click the play button to watch the clip.

Usain Bolt wins 100m Olympic gold



Usain Bolt on Sunday retained his 100 metres Olympic crown in sensational style by winning in 9.63 seconds at the ongoing London 2012 Olympics. The Jamaican superstar, 25, put on a show for his fans in London to hold off Yohan Blake and Justin Gatlin.  Bolt becomes only the second man in history to win back-to-back 100m Olympics titles. Congrats to him.

Keagan wins Big Brother Africa StarGame!


South African Housemate Keagan has won the Big Brother StarGame! After 91 long days in the house, the young lad has finally hit the jack pot. His journey started in Doenville with partner Lee who was evicted on the same night he was Upgraded to Upville.

Peter, Paul, Jude Okoye, May D and the deceased’s husband, Mr. Okoye were all there to pay the departed soul  her last respect.

Sambo was born on 2 August 1954 in Zaria, Kaduna State of Nigeria. In 1988 he was appointed Commissioner for Works, Transport and Housing, Kaduna. May 2007, saw Sambo assuming office of the Governor of Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Happy birthday to Kanu Nwankwo and Van Vicker

Today, August 1st is the birthday of Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo and Ghana movie star, Van Vicker. Kanu was born on 1 August 1976. He captained Nigerian’s Dream Team 1 to Olympic victory in Atlanta ’96. He was also a member of the Nigerian national team for 16 years from 1994 until 2010.
