Ace broadcaster, Idy James appointed GM of UNIUYO FM

Broadcast virtuoso, Pastor Idy James has been appointed the General Manager of UNIUYO FM 100.7Mhz. Pastor James has had stints with AKBC and Cool FM. He started duties at the University of Uyo owned station on Monday and he is saddled with the responsibility of commercializing and re-branding the Tuskite FM. Congrats to him.  

R.I.P President John Attah Mills of Ghana

The President of Ghana, John Attah Mills is dead. He passed away at the 37 Military Hospital. Reports have it that he suffered from throat cancer. May his soul rest in peace.

Journalists fight over Gov. Akpabio’s N5m

A brawl broke out on Saturday, 21 July 2012 when journalists involved in a scuffle for N5m given to the state branch of NUJ to share to its members who were present during a press conference organized by the state government.

The Akwa Ibom State Government had organized the press parley to clear the air on the brewing issue of the 76 oil wells awarded to Akwa Ibom at the expense of Cross River State by the Supreme Court. Over 300 journalists (and non-journalists alike) thronged the new banquet hall, venue for the event. Some were there since morning, but the press conference started at about 9pm.

2012/2013 Admission: UNIUYO releases first list

The University of Uyo has released the first list (merit) for admission into the varsity for the 2012/2013 academic session. The list which was released on Thursday can be checked at the Onyema Ugochukwu hall, town campus of the school. The list is yet to be put up on the university’s website. Goldie cries on stage after being evicted from BBA Stargame

Nigeria’s representative at the Big Brother Star Game, Goldie on Sunday got evicted from the house after spending 70 days. She was sent packing by Biggie after failing to beat off stiff competition from Kyle and Lady May.  

Big Brother presenter IK first broke the good news to Lady May and Kyle that they had been saved by Africa, then Goldie was unfortunately told that she had become the latest eviction victim from the house.

She is scraping a living doing evening shifts as a Mrs Mop at the ­offices of a car lease company for close to the £6-an-hour minimum wage.

The Noble Laureate was challenged by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio to “to come and see” what is happening in the state. On Sunday, the professor of English who recently turned 78 alongside his wife, touched down AKIA and were hosted by the state’s chief executive at the Gov’s Lodge. More photos coming.

BBA Update: Prezzo & Goldie Fight Again!

After their fight yesterday in the bedroom, the two love birds seem not to have had enough as they engaged in another verbal fight in the afternoon.

Apparently, the cause of the fight is Prezzo‘s missing ring which he accuses Goldie of taking.

Prezzo who was playing cards with Kyle in the lounge saw Goldie coming from the bedroom and told her that he wanted his ring back but the Nigerian singer seemed not have any idea where the missing ring could be.

Oshiomohole declared winner of Edo guber polls

Incumbent governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has been announced as the winner of the July 14, 2012 guber polls in the state. He was declared winner by INEC's returning officer Prof. Osayuki Oshodi. The ACN candidate won with 4,77,478 votes followed by PDP with a distant 144,235. Below is the number of votes each party amassed at the polls.
